Here are some of our favorite suggestions:

SWITZERLAND:  Magnificently scenic is a fitting description for this small country. In addition to the very orderly and clean cities of Bern, Basel and Zurich, and the very quaint city of Lucern, you will want to devote  several days for exploring the Swiss Oberland in the Alps. There are lovely small towns and villages high up in the Alps such as Murren, Wengen and Grindelwald that you will reach only by mountain trains and cable cars, as there are no cars up there. You will be amazed by the most beautiful scenery with the snowcapped peaks of Jungfraujoch, Eiger and Monch glistening in the sun. This is reminiscent of the scenes from Sound of Music and the story of Heidi.  Several scenic hiking paths abound and lodging options include budget friendly guest houses and 4-5-start hotels. Wintertime ushers in a prime ski season in the Alpine towns including Zermatt and St Moritz.

ENGLAND: Explore England with the quintessential old British countryside in Cotswolds with its rolling hills and valleys, winding rivers and lovely small villages, stately castles and immaculate gardens. Include a lovely guided walk with the local walking club, stop in at the small pub to have real British lunch and mix with the locals.  Visit Stratford Upon Avon, the homestead of Shakespeare and the famous university town of Oxford. How about a Roman bath at the historic Bath? And a visit to Stonehenge. Of course, you will want to experience London with its famous landmarks, fabulous theater in West End and maybe a high tea at Harrods.

FRANCE: Paris is such a wonderful city that you may want to spend several days in your exploration of the famous sites such as Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Versailles etc. etc not forgetting cruising on the River Seine and thoroughly sampling the culinary delicacies and enjoying the most interesting café culture. Fast and convenient train connections make it easy to branch out to Normandy for a D-Day tour led by a historian, explore the lovely small villages and towns in South of France and Loire Valley wineries. French Riviera adds yet another dimension to your grand tour from Cannes all the way to the tiny principality of Monaco. For the real adventurers it is possible to cross the border to Italy over Mt. Blanc!

ITALY:  From the picturesque Lake Como surrounded by scenic mountains to the romantic Venice, on to the quaint villages of Cinque Terre all the way down to the exquisite Amalfi Coast, Italy delivers sceneries unlike anywhere else. This is the framework for the historical, artistic and architectural richness of the grand cities of Rome, Florence, Milan and Naples.  Certainly, the highly regarded Italian cuisine will indulge your taste buds and will entice you to try some local delicacies. Italy is sure to impress and charm you to return!
